Press release - 18 April 2023

Corteva Agriscience’s Cereals 2023 stand will be packed with its latest innovations available to arable farmers now, while also looking at the company’s future pipeline of crop protection and seed products.

Since last year’s event, Corteva has cemented its position as a global leader in the rapidly-expanding biologicals market by announcing that it has closed the acquisitions of Symborg, an expert in microbiological technologies, and Stoller, one of the largest independent companies in the biologicals industry.

These acquisitions illustrate Corteva’s commitment to providing farmers with sustainable solutions that bring value and productivity to the farm, and will be reflected at Cereals 2023.

Farmers looking to get the most out of their fertiliser use have access to a new nitrogen efficiency optimiser, which is widely available across the UK and Ireland for the first time this year.

BlueN™ is a biostimulant containing a naturally available bacteria that enables crops including cereals, oilseed rape and maize, to fix nitrogen from the air and make it available throughout the plant’s lifecycle. Farmers will be able to view crop plots treated with BlueN and talk to Corteva’s experts on the stand over both days.

Another innovation is a nitrogen stabilisation product, Instinct®, which is also available to cereal and oilseed rape growers across the UK and Ireland. By inhibiting denitrification of applied ammonium nitrate, urea and liquid manure, Instinct will contribute to optimum crop yields and profit potential.

“Some of the world’s leading global innovations in crop protection and seeds are all here and available from Corteva, and we’re looking forward to showcasing these at Cereals 2023,” says Alex Nichols, Marketing Manager at Corteva.

Pioneer oilseed rape and maize varieties have been drilled for the show, with particular focus on the hybrids PT303, PT312, and PT315.

PT303 Protector® Sclerotinia topped AHDB’s UK Recommended List for gross output in 2022/23 with a 107% yield, and in the 2023/24 list has continued to show its consistency with a UK-wide recommendation and 104% gross output.

PT303 is the first oilseed rape variety to offer tolerance against sclerotinia disease, while also proving resistance to Turnip Yellows Virus (TuYV), and high scores for light leaf spot and phoma.

Growers will get their first look at PT312, which is new for 2023, and is Corteva’s second Protector Sclerotinia hybrid which has resistance to TuYV, very high oil content and is stiff strawed. PT315 is Corteva’s first pod shatter-resistant hybrid.

Discussion will also take place about how cereal fungicide Univoq™ has delivered the best yield response when compared to other T2 chemistry. Data from cereal disease trials carried out last year shows that Univoq has an advantage over Revystar XE® worth £54/hectare to growers, assuming a wheat price of £225/tonne.

Corteva will be holding easyconnect demonstrations on its stand for sprayer operators who want to learn more about filling their machines faster, easier, and safer than conventional methods. easyconnect is supported by a large number of crop protection manufacturers – including Corteva – so it can be used on a wide range of products.

CPD points are on offer to anyone who visits the Corteva stand and takes the arable quiz.
