Tell us a little bit about your role at Corteva?
As the Customer Service team lead in the UK, I support the team in all customer service activities for the crop and seed business in the UK & Ireland region such as order management, resolving customer issues, rebates, e-commerce and control requirements. I look for ways to improve efficiency and work processes within the department.
Can you describe your journey to becoming a Customer Service Team Lead at Corteva?
I worked in customer service, admin and sales roles in different industries before joining Dow AgroSciences (now Corteva Agriscience) in 2002 as a Customer Service Representative. The role has always been varied and interesting, evolving over the years through advancements in technology and various changes within the company. I took on the team lead role a couple of years ago and have enjoyed the new challenges this has brought.
Do you have a connection to agriculture outside of Corteva?
Absolutely not. It was a whole new world to me when I joined the company. It’s been interesting to learn more about the industry and has made me appreciate the work that farmers do to provide food for the population.
What skills and experiences have been most valuable in your position?
The ability to multi-task and work under pressure have served me well over the years. We must react quickly to customer needs and be able to problem solve. This often involves liaising with different functions (commercial, supply chain, credit, external warehouses) so building strong relationships both internally and with customers is important.
What aspects of Corteva's work culture do you find most appealing and supportive?
I like that we are encouraged to be fully autonomous within our roles at Corteva. At the same time, there is a very supportive culture within the UK team as a whole and the wider customer service team in Europe. Customer service is very process driven, so having access to subject matter experts is vital when you need to resolve issues quickly. There is a strong team spirit and a willingness to collaborate to resolve issues and get the job done.
Why would you recommend Corteva as a great place to work?
Definitely. I think the people you work with make or break how you feel about a company and although the company has changed immensely over the years, the strong people culture has been consistent.
