Tell us a little bit about your role at Corteva?
I have a dual role as Area Manager (Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire) and Technical Services Specialist. As an Area Manager I carry out technical briefings and provide technical support to teams in my areas. As part of the technical services team, we ensure all technical literature is up to date and provide support to the sales team.
Do you have a connection to agriculture outside of Corteva?
I have always been involved in agriculture as my parents are farmers and the family farm is located in Northamptonshire. I still get involved when time allows, more so at harvest time!
Can you describe your journey to becoming an Area Manager at Corteva?
I joined Corteva in July 2022 having spent 12 years working in crop trials. I initially joined as a Technical Services Specialist which has gave me a good understanding of the Corteva product portfolio. In August 2023, the position of Area Manger for Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire came up. I took up this position in September 2023 because I wanted to gain more commercial and customer facing experience.
What has been the most interesting project you've worked on at Corteva?
I enjoy working with growers and agronomists to help resolve queries they have when they call the hotline, as well as providing technical support across three of the portfolios, Cereal & Root Herbicides, Grassland & Forage and Biostimulants. I also enjoyed supporting the grassland innovation platforms for the launch of our two new grassland herbicides, ProClova®XL and ProGrass™.
How do you keep up to date with the latest advancements and trends in agriculture?
I attend relevant shows (Cereals), external training courses (ARTIS, NIAB), webinars (AHDB’s Agronomists conference) and online training courses (BASIS) to stay up to date.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to become an Area Manager in the agricultural industry?
It is a very rewarding role with lots of interaction with growers and agronomists across a wide range of crops. It is a technical role, but with a desire to succeed and achieve, an Area Manager role will open up many opportunities for you.
What interests or activities outside of work bring you happiness?
Outside of work I enjoy baking, walks in the countryside with my family and growing vegetables in our garden.
Why would you recommend Corteva as a great place to work?
Corteva is a great place to work, there is lots of support available with many opportunities to embrace. There is a strong focus on training, self-development, and achievement with a great emphasis on teamwork and succeeding.
