Common and persistent, annual meadow grass is highly adaptable, thriving in fertile soils and prevalent in traditional rotations. The grass weed is also encouraged where min till establishment is favoured.
Annual meadow grass plants are small and tufted, and between 3-30 cm tall. Leaves are pale green, leaf tips are curved, and the undersides of leaves are ridged. Flower heads spread and branch and appear triangular.
Annual meadow grass can be found in both winter and spring crops. It is short (up to 30cm tall) and tufted in appearance and has a lifecycle of about 6 weeks. Some plants overwinter and therefore both emerging and flowering plants can be found next to each other. Annual meadow grass mainly reproduces via seed, but it also has a long lateral root and can regenerate from broken root fragments.
Although it is a small plant, annual meadow grass can grow in large numbers in a field. These plants then compete with the crop for nutrients and water. Annual meadow grass can delay ripening because it increases the moisture content of the straw and interferes with harvest.
Target plants that are small and actively growing.
Broadway Ultra combines two active ingredients: pyroxsulam and mesosulfuron. This powerful duo offers an upgrade over the previous formulation, Broadway Star, by adding control of annual meadow grass to its label.
Broadway Ultra is suitable for use on winter wheat and triticale crops, with an application window from the start of the year up to the 15th of May.
It should be applied at a rate of 100g/ha, with an approved adjuvant to enhance its effectiveness. Best results are achieved when applied to weeds that are small and actively growing.
Broadway® Ultra is unique combination of pyroxsulam and mesosulfuron, providing post-emergence broad spectrum grass and broad-leaved weed control in winter wheat and winter triticale.
